Тhe new Apostolic Constitution entitled Praedicate evangelium was publicly discussed for the first time at the Pontifical Lateran University. It replaced the previous Vatican Constitution of 1988 entitled Bonus pater which was issued by Pope John Paul II.

The procedure of the new constitution enactment was initiated in 2013 just before election of Pope Francis. The new Constitution of Vatican was promulgated by the Holy Father Francis on March 19, and will enter into force on June 5, 2022.

After the introductory speech of Vincenzo Buonomo, the Rector of the Pontifical Lateran University, Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin said that the reform of the Roman Curia was one of the chief goals of Pope Francis’ pontificate which is now completed.

He also analysed its structure, content and novelties. In the afternoon session distinguished Vatican authorities such as Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, secretary of the Council of Cardinals for many years, the prefect of the Secretariat for the Economy, Father Juan Antonio Guerrero Alves, the prefect of the Dicastery for Communication Paolo Ruffini, etc. expressed their views on many important issues.

Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia Sima Avramovic and the first Counceler Srdjan Miljkovic have participated at that event.
